Dear Henry

This brand new pale fire union track tells the tale of our tragic hero Henry, who has been bitten once too often by the cruelties of life and has shut himself off from the world outside.

Perhaps there is a little bit of Henry in us all…

DEAR HENRY

One day I wandered
Out among the hills
From the north, a rolling mist
And with it came a chill

Whistle in the waking wind
Out along the moor
White cliffs by the seaside
There’s a man down on the shore

Hunched + huddled all alone
He turns his collar to
The waking wind it gets in
Dear Henry, is it you?

Have my eyes grown weary
Have I seen a ghost
Your story’s known in common rooms
Up and down the coast

When will you remember
that life is passing you by?

They say he came from down the way
From another age
Year by year with sticks and stones
A solitary cage
He built to keep the bad things out
Still the wanting breeze
Henry did you learn to live
a life upon your knees?

When will you remember
that life is passing you by?

Henry are you broken?
And is it right
To sit there in your cabin bare
And while away the nights
Like the hammer in that song
From days long gone
You’re swingin’ at the shadows
Dancing on your wall…
